Jajah Brings Free Mobile Calling to Facebook

Jajah Brings Free Mobile Calling to Facebook

The mobile VOIP scene is pretty crowded nowadays. Of course this is not a new thing and VOIP technology has been threatening mobile operators and telecommunication companies for years, but now it is really starting to heat up. The smartphone user has so many choices when it comes to cheap or free global calling, the only challenge here is to pick one. Today, Jajah, a VOIP provider that was acquired by Telefónica in 2009, threw its hat into the mobile ring.

Fring Brings Group Video Chat to Mobile Phones

Fring is an exciting mobile company that is on the forefront of VOIP and IM technology. It is also one of the only mobile apps that enables video calling between iPhone and Android users (along with Tango). However, the company just pushed the envelope once again, this time with the introduction of group video chat on a mobile device.

The Flipboard 1.2 Update Just Made Something Great, Fantastic!

The iPad has definitely changed more industries than almost any product before it. One of these industries is the magazine and newspaper industries. Some might say it even killed them.

As of last week, our brand new SDK, Appboy+, which we have been working on for months, is official. The new Appboy SDK is simple and easy to integrate, it takes around ten minutes to add to an app.

A Revolution in Smartphone Messaging: BBM Coming to Android and iOS

A Revolution in Smartphone Messaging: BBM Coming to Android and iOS

Every so often there is a new category that arises in the various app stores and begins to boom. Some examples have been photo sharing apps, group messaging apps, and of course free texting apps. Apps like WhatsApp and Kik made lots of noise and have both built up a substantial user base. I am pretty sure the original idea when developing these apps was to make a BBM for iPhone. That would explain RIM banning Kik from the App World.

MySpace for iPhone – A Great Discovery Tool

MySpace for iPhone – A Great Discovery Tool

Once upon a time, in what seems like a long, long time ago, no one cared about Facebook. I know, you are shocked and don’t believe me but it is true. Myspace was once the number name in social networking and everyone seemed to have one. Now look, Facebook has completely replaced Myspace and all other social networks in just about every category. Well, every category but one, music. Myspace may never be what it once was but now that it has shifted its focus to music and entertainment they have a real chance to be relevant again and one way to push that along is to update your iOS app. I hated the original Myspace app and deleted it after five minutes of it being on my iPhone. The app was slow, clunky and lacking in functions. The new Myspace app however is fast, well designed and finally worthy of being on my iPhone and maybe even yours.

Huge! New Skype iPhone App Brings Video Calling to 521M Active Users

It is a good day for geeks today. The new Skype 3.0 for iOS was just released and it brings with it the most coveted feature of all, video calling. If you have an iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch 3rd or 4th generation, or an iPad, you will be able to make a video call to your Skype contacts. Of course, if your device lacks a camera, you will not able to send them video but you can see them.

Inception for iPhone App Review

Inception for iPhone App Review

Movie apps suck. Yup, I said it. Movie apps tend to be huge in size, lacking in features and after the movie is released totally useless. I find myself being a sucker over and over again when the new blockbuster movie comes out downloading the app that accompanies it. I almost didn’t download the Inception app based on previous experience but now that I have I can’t see it leaving my iPhone anytime soon.

Wallabee: Travel Edition for iPhone App Review

Wallabee: Travel Edition for iPhone App Review

The newest trend to sweep the mobile market is social check-ins. From Foursquare to Gowalla to Yelp to SCVNGR to the now defunct Brightkite smart phone users have lots of choices when it comes to how they share there location. Personally, I prefer Gowalla to all the rest because it turns checking into a fun activity more than the others. Problem is though, if you go on a long outing all these apps eat away at your already limited iPhone battery life. If you use Gowalla as much as I do you may need to look into Wallabee Travel Edition. Wallabee works by syncing your Gowalla account information with Wallabee who then checks in for you from their server leading to smaller and faster checkins.

Friends for iPhone – The Best Social Networking Tool Out There

Friends for iPhone – The Best Social Networking Tool Out There

I know that this is the kind of problem I guess you want to have, I have a lot of friends. Not only do I have a lot of friends but I have
a lot of talented friends that I want to keep up with. Some are making movies, some are making music and some are just making things
interesting, regardless I like to be able to check in with them and sometimes that is all I want. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace (yes, some
people do still use Myspace) and LinkedIn are great services but the amount time consumed once I check in to one of these sites can be scary. Friends by Taptivate fixes that problem for me. Friends finds your contacts, syncs there social media accounts and allows you to see all there shenanigans in one place quickly and easily, for only $1.99.
