Silent Film Director for iOS is Instagram for Video and Then Some

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to come across some pretty awesome apps before they were released to the public. Right now, I am testing out anywhere between ten and twenty apps that will be released over the next few weeks. However, there is always that one app that stands out. I am referring to apps like Flipboard, Word Lens, Instagram, and others.

Create Photo Stories with Diptic for the iPhone and iPad

Create Photo Stories with Diptic for the iPhone and iPad

Photography is my passion and I like to believe that a good photograph can tell a story. Sometimes I find it hard to find one picture that can sum up a story. If I have two or more, a photo collage is a great way to tell a story with photographs. Diptic, from Peak Systems, is an app which allows you to create customizable and interesting photo collages. The name comes from the word diptych which is an art piece that has two panels. You can also create triptychs or tetratychs which have three and four panels, respectively. In the app, you can snap pictures on your iDevice or take them from your photo albums, Facebook or Flickr and create an interesting photo collage with many customizable options.

What attracted me to it was its beautiful icon, but soon I realized there was more. Relatively simple UI which is unique because many timer apps abandon the familiar interface of the default camera application in favor or something that leaves me fumbling to shoot a photo.

La Vida Logo for iPhone Lets You Create An “Artrageous” Scene

I think most people will agree with me on this, the coolest thing Myspace has done with it’s new redesign is the use of the new logo. The new open feel of the Myspace logo really portrays the idea of this being your personal space. Myspace has really blown me away recently with the work they have done to make their product relevant again and with the release of the free La Vida Logo you can take this design and make it truly your own. La Vida Logo allows you to create and customize your own version of the Myspace logo and if you use Myspace it allows you to make one awesome avatar for the site, all for free!

Lab for iPhone – The Photography Guru

Lab for iPhone – The Photography Guru

The iPhone 3G is the most used camera for pictures shared on the popular photo sharing site Flickr. This speaks volumes for how far the iPhone camera has come. Problem is, the default Photo app hasn’t come very far especially in comparison to the use of the iPhone as a full time camera. Apps like Instagram and Hipstamatic have really raised the quality and quantity of would be iPhone photographers and if the apps that we use to take the pictures keep getting better and better the way we look at them needs to be raised too. Lab is the app that I hope the default Photo app will someday become. It’s only 99 cents, too!

Notica for iPhone – The Best Picture Note-Taking App Ever

Notica for iPhone – The Best Picture Note-Taking App Ever

Has this ever happened to you? You see something really cool, and instantly think of someone you want to share that item with? This
happens to me quite often. I go out and see an amazing product, snap a picture on my iPhone and than carry on with what I am doing. By the time I get to my friend I have forgotten where I saw the item in question or how much it costs. I could snap a picture and than open up my Notes app to record all this info or I can open up Notica. Notica is your visual memory companion. Not only does it save pictures but it also allows you to add a note and use your iPhone’s GPS to mark the location, all for $2.99.

5 Things Instagram Got Right that Others Before it Couldn’t

Before I begin, let me explain why I chose to write about Instagram. If you read this blog, you know that I generally write about market trends and current mobile affairs. Very rarely do I focus on one specific app and I do that when the app points to a more general pattern of where the market is headed. Such is the case with the new Instagram (iTunes link) phenomenon.

GPS Tracks: Geotagging for your SLR

I consider myself an amateur photographer who packs a Sony alpha 200 on long trips and keeps my iPhone 4 (loaded with photo related apps) in my back pocket at all times. Recently I discovered Geotagging, this amazing feature that allows a user to display on a map, in iPhoto, Aperture, or Flickr, exactly where [...]

Must-Have iPhone Photo Apps

Must-Have iPhone Photo Apps

A frequent traveler – and foodie traveler in particular – I decided to up my photography game a little this spring and purchased a DSLR. A Canon Rebel XT, to be exact, and I was thrilled. I took beautiful pictures of food, people, and scenery… until it got stolen, just a couple of months after I purchased it.
