Facebook and its 500 Million Users Join the Location Game

Just in case you have not yet noticed, no one wants privacy anymore. Facebook is dominating the Web with its whopping 500 million users, Twitter is flourishing with people sharing every last detail of their lives, Foursquare and Gowalla are booming in popularity, and now, this whole lack of privacy is reaching totally new levels.

9 iPad Apps To Justify Your Purchase and Wow Your Friends

9 iPad Apps To Justify Your Purchase and Wow Your Friends

If I had a dime for every person who asked me whether the iPad was nothing more than a large iPod Touch, I would probably have a small fortune by now. Truth be told, in theory, there is something to that claim. However, once you have used an iPad, you know that in this case, size matters.

Google Announces Two Seriously Awesome Android Features

Google Announces Two Seriously Awesome Android Features

It is no secret that despite BlackBerry and Symbian’s overall global numbers, the two hot players in today’s game are iPhone and Android, or Apple and Google. RIM’s attempt to jump in that game with the new Torch was a nice attempt, but as a good friend wrote in his post, it was a mistake for RIM to even try to compete in that space. So, Apple and Google are going at each other for market share, but that is not all they seem to be fighting about.

Death Grip Exists and it Affects A Whole Lot More Than Your Signal

Death Grip Exists and it Affects A Whole Lot More Than Your Signal

By now, we have all heard about the famous iPhone 4 antenna issues. In fact, if I had a dime for every person who I told that I am getting the new Apple device and responded “The antenna problem doesn’t bother you?” I would be at least two dollars richer. I am really not going to get into the debate about whether this is a real problem that is unique to Apple, I think the statistics about customers complaining or returning the phone speak for themselves.

Vonage Ousts Skype as Mayor of VOIP Apps for iPhone/Android

Vonage Ousts Skype as Mayor of VOIP Apps for iPhone/Android

Yesterday morning as I was writing my post about the new Facebook Android app, I got a DM from a friend on Twitter. He lives in Florida and he wanted to test out the new Vonage app for iPhone/iPod Touch and Android. If you want to get my attention, a new app will always do the job. I quickly went to download the free app from the App Store, and being as I only have an older generation iPod Touch with no mic, I installed it on my iPad. The app is not iPad optimized yet, but the pixelated graphics should have no effect on a VOIP app, so I went ahead and installed it.

New Facebook App for Android, the Number One Mobile OS in the US

New Facebook App for Android, the Number One Mobile OS in the US

Android seems to be on fire lately. While RIM is trying so hard to stay in the game, only the most loyal BlackBerry users can say they are excited about the new BlackBerry Torch. The newest data is that Android not only passed iPhone in terms of mobile OS percentage in the U.S, it also surpassed RIM for the number one spot. The recent study points to a 33% of the U.S consumer market belonging to Android with 28% going to RIM and 22 % to Apple.

iPhone 4 Jailbroken!

iPhone 4 Jailbroken!

And it begins. Let me just say that I am yet to jailbreak any of the various Apple devices that I own, but I will not say that the thought never crossed my mind, it has. At the end of the day, the ongoing battle with Apple updates and the technical issues that accompany the jailbreaking process are the reasons I have not done it yet. Having said that, after last week’s drama of jailbreaking iPhones become completely legit (at least legally) and today’s news of the iPhone 4 jailbreak surfacing, there are going to be a whole lot of people hacking the heck out of their iPhone 4.

7 Lessons App Developers Should Learn from Flipboard

This Flipboard thing is a true phenomenon. If you have an iPad or are interested in the wild success of this new computing platform, you have most likely heard of Flipboard. Flipboard is the first “social magazine” as it is being called. It is a free app that enables users to access their various social streams and RSS feeds in an interface more magazine-like than most magazines. Flipboard became the first of a lot of different categories when it comes to iPad apps.

A Comedian’s Take on Mobile Phones and Modern Technology

A Comedian’s Take on Mobile Phones and Modern Technology

In our fast paced world where technology advances faster than our minds can even grasp, it is sometimes helpful to take a step back and put everything in perspective. You can always count on a good comedian to do that for you. In this case, Louis C.K, one of my favorite comedians gives his take on how fast our world has evolved and how little we appreciate it.

Flipboard for iPad Truly Justifies All the Hype

Flipboard for iPad Truly Justifies All the Hype

I don’t remember the last time a mobile app of any kind got this much hype. In fact, I don’t think I can recall any software of any kind ever getting this much hype. Yesterday, Scoble broke the news of the release of a new iPad app called Flipboard. Shortly after, the Wall Street Journal followed with an article and review of the app. It wasn’t long before Mashable, TechCrunch, TheNextWeb, and the rest of the blogging crowd followed with their reviews. All the exposure throughout the blogesphere had one thing in common, it was all overwhelmingly positive.
