It’s Here! All iPhone 4S Video Reviews in One Place! Now, To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade?

Today is the day, folks. iOS5 makes its official debut as do tens of iPhone 4S reviews around the Web. A good place to find all of the reviews is of course Techmeme.
You want a short summary? Well, as I tweeted this morning, “All 4S reviews: Same build, faster, better camera, Siri. Buy? Yes. Upgrade? Maybe. There, saved you hours of reading.”
In all seriousness though, that pretty much says it all. The iPhone 4S looks just like the iPhone 4, but it outperforms it and any other Android phone on the market. It does NOT outperform the iPad 2, which I found to be strange and very un-Apple-like.
In any case, the 4S camera is significantly better than the iPhone 4′s and it goes without saying that it is also better than all Android device’s camera as well.
For me, the one and only reason I would upgrade or at least consider upgrading is Siri. Do I need it? Absolutely not! Do I really expect to see millions of people talking to their phones from here on out? Not convinced. Is it mind blowing, totally futuristic, and perfect for a lot of fun experimenting with asking my phone questions like, “Mac or PC”, “What tie should I wear” or “Can you please give me a good pick-up line for the girl at the bar”? Absolutely!
Siri really is pretty amazing if I am judging by the videos below, but without an API and being that it is still in Beta, right now, it seems like glorified voice recognition software and not a revolution. Something tells me that will change soon.
At the end of the day, the iPhone 4S will be the most successful iPhone ever and one million units sold in 24 hours is proof of that. Should iPhone 4 owners upgrade? I probably will not be upgrading, and unless you have a serious whole in your existence that can only be solved by a talking phone, I don’t see any pressing reason to upgrade.
Then again, talk to me again in three months. If my track record is any indication, I will be sporting a new iPhone 4S within the month, but that is just my obsession with shiny new toys speaking.
