Chrome to Phone for Android Review
Chrome to phone is one of those small features that once you get used to using, it is really hard to live without. The whole premise of Chrome to phone is exactly what is in the title. You send something from your web browser directly to your phone. What is the point of Chrome to phone? It is a simple concept. When viewing a web page, map, YouTube videos, numbers and text currently selected, you can send it directly to your phone.

Let’s say you’re browsing Google Maps on your desktop. You’re looking for a good place to eat in a location you plan on going to. You find the place you’re interested in and you get the directions from point A (your home or wherever you are at) to point B (the food place). Once the directions are loaded up on the page just scroll your mouse to the top right of your browser and click the Chrome to phone icon.
Just seconds later you’ll see Google maps load up on your Android phone with the directions all there for you. Maps isn’t the only thing you can load, you can even load entire web pages. While browsing a web page just scroll up to that same Chrome to Phone icon and click. The web page your browsing on your computer will load right up on your phone. You can do the same thing with links, selected text, and YouTube videos.
If you do it with a YouTube video, your Android phone will ask you if you want to load it in the YouTube app or the browser itself. The app is incredibly useful when you want to send yourself information, or if you have someone using your computer and you want them to send you a link, video, or map. It’s quick, easy to use, and at first it feels like you’re playing with technology from the future, but you’ll get used to it.
The application is free in the Android market and it is made by a developer at Google. Right now it works with both Google’s Chrome browser for Windows and Mac, as well as FireFox. You will need to download both the Android market in the browser as well as the add-on in Firefox, or if you use Chrome browser then you will need the Chrome extension, all for free, so why not go check it out?
