SocialScope for BlackBerry is the Ultimate Social Media App

By: Hillel Fuld

Oh no, not another Twitter app. That was my initial reaction when I heard about SocialScope for BlackBerry. The app is in private beta on various mobile platforms including BlackBerry and iPhone. Despite the large number of Twitter apps out there, I had to sign up for the beta since many of the people I consider experts were going on and on about SocialScope. So, after a long wait, I finally got my invite, and it was not long before I deleted UberTwitter and Twitter for BlackBerry from my device.

SocialScope has been my Twitter app of choice for a few weeks now, and beyond it being the most advanced and user friendly Twitter app for BlackBerry, it also saves you the headache of using the BlackBerry Facebook app, which has not yet joined us in the 21st century. SocialScope has Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Flickr, and more integrated into the app and it is all done in a stylish and simple user interface.

The UI is built around the top bar on which you can add different tabs. You can have a tab for multiple Twitter accounts, Twitter lists, Facebook accounts, Foursquare accounts, a Twitter search term, a profile, and the list goes on. You navigate between tabs by easily scrolling left and right, which is a feature you can disable in the settings.

SocialScope seems to be completely up to date on the various features offered by Facebook and Twitter including Facebook Likes, Twitter Geo Location and much more. I am not going to list the features offered by SocialScope because it basically has it all, but so does UberTwitter. What made me switch is its speed and accuracy. The load time is as fast as any app I have tried on BlackBerry or iPhone and the ability to scroll between tabs makes the experience much more intuitive than other apps I have tried.

Like I said, right now SocialScope is in private beta, so it is by invitation only, but you should definitely sign up, which you can do here. The video below is not updated with the most recent release of SocialScope, but it is close enough for  you to get a feel of the app.
