Pro HDR for iPhone – Video Review
After picking up my iPhone 4, I was set to find a decent HDR (high dynamic range) application. I believe I’ve found the perfect one – Pro HDR for the iPhone. Although there’s not much eye-candy, the core functions of the actual application are phenomenal.
One thing I found disappointing is it’s price, $1.99. Although it does a great job at providing you with a great looking HDR image, it does not seem worth its price point, however, it’s still a great app. The graphics are not impressive either, another reason to lower the price to .99 cents instead of $1.99.
What Pro HDR does is it allows you to take two pictures of a scene that you want to create an HDR of. You’ll need to focus one where it’s really bright. In the other, you’ll have to focus it to where there’s lack of light. The application will then combine both photos to produce one image that has the proper amount of light and darkness. This can result in some really funky pictures however, so you may need to give it a couple tries occasionally. This is a fact about HDR in general, and does not reflect on the actual application itself.
What I liked about the application was the option to modify the image after it combined the two images. You can add/reduce the contrast, saturation, and a variety of other things. By default, it has all the sliders set to the middle.

It’s still a excellent app overall, and does what you want it to. If you’ve got an extra $1.99 in your iTunes account, definitely check it out! If you’re looking for some eye candy at the same time, you may want to consider some other application, because then this is really not for you. Personally, I found it perfect for my needs, it works perfectly!
