Need a Free Case for Your iPhone 4? There’s an App For That!

Are you an owner of the iPhone 4, the latest and greatest device from Apple? Does it have the reception issue? Apple is offering free (yes, 100% free) cases for your device, so you will not ever have the reception issue again. How did they do it? Of course, an app!

If you woke up early this morning and had a craving to visit apple’s website, you would have noticed, under the iPhone 4 section, the offer to redeem a free case for your beloved device. All you have to do is download the application, select the case of your choice, and give the app your iTunes account info, where you can edit your shipping address if you wish.

Not only are the bumpers available, but also a variety of cases by Speck, Incase, and Belkin. This is due to Apple’s inability to produce sufficient bumpers. If you purchased one before they announced the free case deal, you’ll receive a refund from Apple shortly. They claim that you have a month from your purchase to be eligible for the free case offer.

There are seven cases you can order from Apple. The Apple bumper in black (disappointment: No other colors available), Belkin Shield Micra, Griffin Motif, Griffin Reveal Etch, Incase Snap case, Speck Fitted, and the Speck Pixelskin HD.

I went with the Apple bumper simply because I have an Invisible Shield on the back on my iPhone 4, and the iPhone 4 bumper is the one case that allows me to keep it on. !

As for the antenna issue, if you didn’t know, there’s a vulnerable spot (Apple claims this is on all smartphones) on your beloved iPhone 4. The little black line on the bottom left spot. If you hold your hand and wrap around it, you’ll notice a considerable drop in signal. Remove your hand from there and you’ll get it back. Some thought that Apple would recall their device, but it proved to be an expensive affair (over a billion dollars), since they have sold 3 million iPhone 4′s to-date. The cheaper solution for them turned out to be offering us free cases as a pacifier, and claiming that all smartphones have it, even the 3GS. It’s just that the iPhone 4 has a more noticeable issue. They even created a webpage to explain this issue, and demonstrate it on various other smartphones, including the Blackberry 9700, Droid Eris, Droid X, Nokia N97 Mini, Samsung Omnia II, the iPhone 3GS, and of course, the iPhone 4. Apple also explained how sophisticated their device testing room is. In fact, it cost them 100 million dollars to make it. Their “engineers have logged thousands of hours designing and testing iPhone 4 in these state-of-the-art facilities.” Quite impressive, is it not?

What are your thoughts on this wide spread issue, which is actually not only on the iPhone 4, but all the other popular smartphones? Drop a comment below! Also, be sure to let us know which case you ordered. Has Apple really turned the tables on this one?
