Hipstamatic for iPhone – Video Review

By: Joel Klassen

Lo-Fi photography with plastic cameras has created a sort of cult following over the past few years. Companies like Lomography and Holga have become very popular with their many cheap plastic film cameras which produce unpredictable vintage photographs. As an owner of a Lomography camera myself, I can say that this type of photography is addictive and although I love the efficiency of digital cameras, the unpredictability of plastic cameras is an adventure.

Thirty years ago, a small company in Wisconsin released 200 cameras with interchangeable lenses and multiple film formats called Hipstamatics. Most of these cameras have been lost over time but analog photography still lives on. A digital reproduction of this camera has now been brought to the iPhone. Hipstamatic is $1.99 and $0.99 for each additional lenses/film kit bought in-app. Watch a review of the app below!
