Handy Light for iPhone – Allows You To Tether Your iPhone Without Jailbreaking!
Are you looking to tether your iPhone’s data to your computer for free without jailbreaking? Handy Light for iPhone will do that, for only 99 cents. How did Apple allow this into the App Store? Keep reading for the details!
Nick Lee, the developer of Handy Light, has put the application into the App Store as a disguise. It’s a simple flashlight application, or so the app description says. The video above shows how cleverly the developer is able to tether his device using his application which is currently in the App Store for a mere 99 cents.
The application shows no sign of having the capability to do this, and hence the developer demonstrates how to in the video. A mac is required. Be sure to grab it quick before it’s pulled! An application by the name of Netshare, by Nullriver, also provided a similar functionality back in 2008 and was immediately pulled.
Apple tells its developers to clearly state any “easter eggs” in the description. Nick Lee has not done that (If he did, the application would definitely not be in the App Store today), and hence they will remove it.
For any of you that are unfamiliar with the concept of tethering – It’s basically transferring your iPhone’s 3G connection to your laptop through USB. It’s free on many carriers, but AT&T has recently announced that they will offer it for $20 monthly. Why not spend a 1-time 99 cent fee to get the same functionality?
UPDATE: It was pulled from the App Store, so only the lucky few who were able to purchase it early will be able to use it.
