Huge! LinkedIn Finally Releases BlackBerry App

Huge! LinkedIn Finally Releases BlackBerry App

One of the cooler features supported by Appboy is the ability to submit ideas for app development, and based on the community’s votes, possibly have your app developed. Not only will it be developed for free, but you can actually get paid for your idea. My very first submitted idea was a LinkedIn app for BlackBerry. Unlike some of the other ideas that were submitted by users, this did not take a lot of creativity in thinking of the idea. In fact, the existence of a LinkedIn app for BlackBerry users is as obvious as it can get.

All-in-One Gamebox – Video Review

All-in-One Gamebox – Video Review

All-in-One Gamebox is an app jam-packed with 26 games for the low price of 0.99 cents. It started last October with eight games and has quickly expanded it’s list with free updates. Almost every update they release contains a game or two, so it’s always exciting to see what’s next. However with all those games in one app one must ask, how good can the quality really be? The games range from driving games to shooting games and they all are relativity easy to figure out. I found some games to be feature filled and relatively good quality, probably even good enough to be sold on their own. Nethertheless, some games seemed straight-up rip offs of other games and some were entertaining for only a few minutes. I’m not going to review all 26 for sake of time, but I’ll do a quick run down of what the company calls their best eight. Video after the break!

Twitter and Digg Releasing Mobile Apps This Week

Twitter and Digg Releasing Mobile Apps This Week

Just in case the astounding number of apps available on the various mobile platforms did not convince you that the apps industry is here to stay, two new mobile apps being released this week might do the job. One of the biggest, if not the THE biggest trends on the Web today, is of course social media. Social media means a lot of things to a lot of people, but to simplify things, I will just say that it is the new and widespread shift in the way we access the internet. If last decade was characterized by surfing the Web to GET information, today people use the Web to GIVE or share information.

How the iPad is Already Affecting the Market

How the iPad is Already Affecting the Market

Most people who are involved in the mobile industry will tell you that the market has become overly app-centric in the past year or two. If “who can make the thinnest phone” was the question on the minds of all mobile manufacturers and consumers just five years ago, today it’s “who has the most apps”? The answer is just as obvious, and Apple, as of now at least, has no real competition. The App Store, depending who you ask, has somewhere between 120,000-150,000 apps, which no matter how you cut it, is a heck of a lotta apps.

3PtHoops for iPhone is A Little Too Basic

If you have been reading my reviews/blog posts, you know by now that I generally either love an app or I hate it. I have said on many occasions that I like apps that are simple and intuitive, and despise apps that have a steep learning curve. It has not happened too often that I tried an app and was torn between loving it and hating it.

Glow Beats for iPhone Provides Some Good Old Fashioned Fun

Glow Beats for iPhone Provides Some Good Old Fashioned Fun

The brilliance of the iPhone OS is in many of its characteristics. There is the revolutionary touch interface, that, fanboy or not, you have to admit every company since the release of the first iPhone is trying to imitate. Yes, I know the iPhone has its shortcomings (ahem, multitasking), but let’s be honest, you can see a lot of the iPhone’s personality in Android, certain versions of Symbian, Maemo, and other mobile platforms. The thing is, no one does it as well as the creator, and everyone else seems to be playing Catch with Apple.
