PositionApp for iPhone: An App for Users, Developers, and Bloggers
By: @Hilzfuld
With the 200,000 apps in the App Store, it is becoming increasingly difficult if not impossible for users and developers to keep track of new apps. This has bred a whole new genre of app discovery tools, such as Appboy and ustwo’s latest app, PositionApp.
Before I even tried PositionApp, I already new it would most likely be a winner, since I am already familiar with ustwo and their development abilities. Sure enough, PositionApp was no disappointment.
The concept is actually quite simple and at the same time brilliant. An app that displays the rankings and movements of the top 300 apps in the App Store based on accumulated information over a 6 month period. You are able to view the top 100 apps, as well as their latest rankings, and how much they moved over a selected period of time.
You can filter your selection based on time as well as location, which enables you to see what a specific app is doing in a selected country. You can monitor various apps that interest you, for example if you are the developer, by adding them to your favorites, and you can search for any of the 200,000 apps in the App Store and view its progress.
This app is a really useful tool for users, developers, and even us reviewers because it really creates order in a place in which you can easily get lost. In fact, the app is so impressive, it was featured by Apple in iTunes, which led to some highly impressive download numbers.
PositionApp is developed by ustwo and sponsored by Admob, which enables you to download the app for no charge. Just to emphasize that point, you are getting an app with a comprehensive database of over 6 months of information regarding the App Store, and it does not cost you a dime.
What really stood out about PositionApp is the ability to filter the apps by anything you want. That includes country, ranking, price, genre, position change, day, week, and month. The database is updated frequently and the information is displayed in a clear and easy to understand manner.
Like I said, ustwo has managed to raise the already high bar they set for themselves with their previous apps and the price of PositionApp really makes it a no brainer. I highly recommend you go download it now, before the price goes up, something that is expected to happen in the near future.
