Interview Guru Keeps You Ahead Of The Game

I remember when my father had prepared for an interview for a really good company not too long ago. It was a hectic environment, and we were all nervous. Luckily, he had prepared well with some tips from his old colleagues, and had gotten the job. If you own an iPhone, why get tips from colleagues when there’s an app for that (that has everything you need in it)? That’s right, interview guru is the perfect app to get ready for an interview, developed by 15 year old John Meyer.

Right off the bat, I noticed the excellent customer service. I had a question about an interview, and contacted the developer (through the home tab) in the app, and received a response literally within ten minutes. The developer is extremely responsive and friendly, and is willing to answer any question that you may have.

As you can see, the user interface of the application is quite simple. It utilizes a UITabbar (the five buttons at the bottom). The main screen is a chalkboard with all the tips and tricks that you’ll need to do well in an interview.

First off, we have the home tab, which, as mentioned earlier, allows you to send the developer feedback/questions/comments/etc. The “Days Before” tab, is, obviously, filled with tips you should keep in mind before you go for the interview. It has a large assortment of things to consider before an interview, which is very nice.

The “Waiting” tab tells you things that you should do while waiting for the interviewer to come meet you. I know for a fact that people who are going for an interview sometimes get so nervous that they can’t even think straight. Lucky for you, this app has already done the thinking for you! Also, there are many more tips that are not shown in the screenshot; to access those, you need to scroll down. It actually has a long list of things you should know for your interview.

After that, there’s the interview tab which actually tells you what you should talk about in the interview, how to behave, and so on.

Even after that, there’s a tab for the actions you need to take several days after the interview. Already, you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into this application.

In a nutshell, this application practically breaks down the whole process of an interview for you. With this, you should have no trouble at all during an interview, as long as you follow these tips and stay calm.

What I hope to see in the future is a more polished or professional user interface. This application costs 99 cents, and compared to the other 99 cent apps in the app store, it isn’t quite up to the mark, yet. In some points of the app, I noticed three exclamation marks. You want to be professional, and consistent. One exclamation mark is sufficient.

Also, maybe the developer could break it up a little bit easier, like an outline? It’d be a bullet point for a tip, and maybe indented a bit, some more info about the tip? How to carry it out and such?

There aren’t really any major issues in the app to complain about, I don’t mind it. I’ll be sure to use it when I’m about to look for a job. The developer should create a lite version of the application (with maybe less tips?) so others can get a feel for the app before paying for the full version. It’s worth a look, but may not appeal to everybody at 99 cents.
