I think Apple did the right thing removing all those useless bikini/nude apps. They kept popping up one after another with the same framework just a different library of girls. It was definitely lowering the credibility of the app store in my opinion.

I have no problems with the App Store containing adult oriented applications. Apple has parental controls in place that should allow for these apps to be there. There is, however, a bigger issue with some of these apps. It's not only sexual apps doing it, but they are a big offender. I recently sent Apple an email complaining about something I saw in the Healthcare and Fitness section. At the time, 11 of the top 20 apps displayed as most recent were by the same developer, for basically the same app. All of the apps were simply pictures of Asian women in pantyhose and were titled AsianPanythose with a number on the end. In fact, the developer had 40 of these applications for sale.

I explained to Apple that the content didn't bother me. The problem was allowing this developer to release 40 of the exact same application instead of forcing them to pursue an in-app purchasing solution. I have 5 apps in the app store and have had all of the fail review for one reason or another. And I'm ok with all of that. But I'm not ok with the process when they let apps like this through.

It appears the apps that I specified have all been removed from the store. So after rambling a bit, for the most part I agree with what Apple seems to be doing here.

I have to say that even though my app was among the 5,000 deleted ones (it was a model no-nudity-whatsoever app), I agree that this was a good decision by Apple. I was sick of watching hundreds of new sex apps flood the App Store New Releases each day.

I'm sure this was not what Apple wanted. It was a tough decision, but I think the App Store will be better off without all those apps in the long run.

60k android phones are getting shipped every day and this number is rising. By the end of this year more android platforms are in the market than iPhones, even though Apple has a 2 year advantage. I guess this clearly tells us, which is the platform of the future and thank god, we don't have to deal with bs like "let's ban apps who show girls in bikinis". Apples' arrogancy will be a huge problem for them in the future.

Especially the chinese market creates a huge momentum for Android. 720 million mobile phones and the 3G network just started about a year ago. These guys will choose Android over the iPhone (which costs around $1000 in China)and impact the dev community heavily.

The iPhone created a new market, now this market is getting taken over by the power of open source, which is fantastic.
