Doodle Jump for iPhone – Oodles of Endless Fun!
The iPhones and the iPod Touch have had over 37 million sales. Even young kids these days own iPods, or some, iPhones. However, many just can’t seem to find the perfect game for them. Not a game to keep you busy for hours, but more like a couple minutes while waiting in line, for example. You don’t need to spend $10 to kill a couple of minutes. How about only 99 cents? The most engaging game on my iPhone is not NOVA, or Need for Speed Shift, it’s Doodle Jump. Now, the name may seem silly, or ‘babyish’, however, this is not the case. Doodle Jump is fit to entertain even adults. Yes, that’s how fun it is! When I order something at a restaurant, and I need to wait for it to come to my table, I always take out my iPhone and immediately start playing Doodle Jump. It’s simply that amusing!

Playing Doodle Jump is extremely simple. When you first open the application, you are greeted by a basic menu, with the available buttons: Options, Scores & Stats, Challenge, and Play. Options, obviously, allows you to change a variety of settings. Scores and stats lets you see all time high scores (The global high scores are unimaginable. Some people get over one million points. Imagine how addicted they are). Challenge allows you to email your friend asking if they can beat your high score. To get started, you simply press Start.
The basics to Doodle Jump are extremely simple. Anybody can pick up and play. Doodle jump is addictive for everyone. You truly have to play it to see how engaging it is.
You control a doodle (the green little monster) that jumps on platforms to go higher and higher. Your objective is to get as high as possible without falling down. It gets harder and harder as you go along, with less platforms. However, there are several other things to spice up the game. There are other aliens as well, trying to stop you. You can get past them in a variety of ways:
- Shoot a coconut at them by simply tapping the screen (Shown in the picture).
- Avoid them
- Jump right on top of them. They will act as a platform for you.
Also, there are several different types of platforms. Brown ones are broken, and if you try to jump on them, they’ll break and you’ll fall! Other platforms, such as the exploding one, disappear, so you need to jump on those as quickly as possible before they go away. There’s only one other type of platform. The white one. Those are one use only platforms. They disappear after you jump on them one time.
Also, you have some more goodies available, including: trampolines (extra boost in your jump), flying hat (let’s you fly for a little bit, slow speed), springs (huge boost in your jump), springy Boots (huge boost in your jump for 3 to 4 platforms), and even a Rocket! (long flight, extremely fast)
That’s really all there is to it. You may be wondering why this game is better than PapiJump, which is completely free. Papijump has NO extras. No exploding platforms, monsters, white platforms, shooting coconuts, nada. Simply put, Doodle Jump is like the God of Papijump. I used to love Papijump until I bought Doodle Jump. I then proceeded to delete PapiJump, since it is absolutely NOTHING compared to doodle jump.

Another great thing about Doodle Jump is the amount of updates it receives. Doodle Jump is updated for practically every season! The theme of the game changes. Whether it’s halloween or Christmas, you can surely expect an update for Doodle Jump. The developers are very active, constantly pushing out updates, making the game even more enjoyable!
In a nutshell, Doodle Jump is a highly addictive game for all ages, it’s sure to entertain you whether you’re 6 or 60. The replay value is amazing, because every time you lose, you’ll want to try again ‘just one more time.’ Doodle Jump is an outstanding game that is definitely worth a look.
