Ragdoll Blaster for iPhone – Hours of Challenging Fun
Are you looking to give your brain a big squeeze? Enjoy puzzles, riddles, challenges? Looking to take all this mobile, on your iPod Touch or iPhone? Ragdoll Blaster for the iPhone does exactly that, and at $1.99, it doesn’t cost much either.

The actual interface of the application itself is not anything special. The good thing about it is that it’s nice, simple, and clean. This isn’t what sticks out to me though, what really sticks out to me about this game is the actual gameplay. You control a cannon, that shoots out rag dolls (hence the name Ragdoll Blaster). The objective of the game is to launch the rag doll into the target. This might seem like an easy task, but as the levels progress, so does the difficulty.
Once you’ve got the basic physics pinned, new elements are thrown into the mix: switches, springs, and mazes. To get it exactly on the target, you will need three basic things:
- luck
- a plan
- timing
Controlling the game is simple, point and fire, the farther away from the cannon the faster it goes. The major thing I noticed is that your rag doll can get stuck pretty easily, and that can cause you to have to reset the level lot. There’s no limit to the amount of ragdolls you can use, however, you should keep in mind that the quicker you do it, and the less amount of ragdolls used, will lead to a higher score. I admit, there were levels in the game that I just could not figure out, which left me frustrated. Fortunately, Backflip Studios, the developer of ragdoll blaster, knew this would happen and therefore allows you to skip levels if it’s too tough for you. The game boasts a plethora of levels. To be exact, 104 levels, which is extremely impressive. It hasn’t always been at 104 levels though. The developers have added more and more levels through updates. The game, in my opinion, is pretty much endless for the average user since you are bound to get stuck on many of the levels. Yes, that’s how challenging this game gets. Personally, I find the game very entertaining. Every aspect of it appeals to me, even the background music. You will find yourself purposefully trying to make it more difficult on some maps, experimenting with new unique ways to hit the target rather than going for the most obvious route.
This brings us to replay value. At only $1.99, the replay value of Ragdoll Blaster is extremely high. You are going to be puzzled and therefore will have the desire to successfully complete the level you repeatedly kept failing. I found myself doing this quite a lot.
You’ll turn every level into a playground, where you’re free to try what you will without any points deductions or judgments of any kind. All Ragdoll Blaster does is keep a record of your best attempt (naturally, the one that took the fewest far flung ragdolls), making this a personal challenge rather than one designed for global scoreboards.Speaking of global scoreboards, I found myself missing this feature. I usually check global high scores, since I’m easily intrigued by them, as to how crazy some people score in this addictive puzzle.
If you’re still not sure if you should get this game or not, they have a free lite version you can use to get a feel for the game.
To sum it all up, I found Ragdoll Blaster highly addictive, challenging, and most of all, fun! It’s an all-around great app, from the gameplay to the replay value, and fit for all ages. It will help sharpen your mind, and for only $1.99, you can’t get a bigger bang for your buck than this. You should definitely have a look at it. Only thing I hope to see in the future is a global scoreboard (maybe Openfeint?)
