Fluttr for Twitter puts the power of Twitter into your Pocket. Effectively.
Are you one of the millions of Twitter users? Like to tweet frequently? Fluttr for Twitter lets you take social networking on Twitter one step further. It puts the power of Twitter into your pocket; loaded on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Wielding a very unique UI (User Interface), Fluttr allows you to tweet from anywhere, effectively. With a plethora of features, it truly enables you to immerse yourself into the phenomenon known as twitter.

Fluttr for Twitter is not one of those basic Twitter clients with the boring ol’ UITabBars.
Oh no, it’s much more than that. Its main feature is its amazing, gorgeous User Interface. Fluttr looks extremely unique (Never before seen in an app). If you’re looking for a beautiful User Interface, stop right here and buy Fluttr, because Fluttr is definitely for you. If the default wallpaper just doesn’t suit you, it comes with several other wallpapers built-in that may appeal to you. If they just don’t cut it either, then you also have the option to use your own photo from your Photo library.
For the most part, Fluttr is filled with excellent features. Although I’ll admit it does not have all the features Tweetie 2, or even Twittelator Pro have. The main features that it overlooks are: Geolocation, Push Support (In Boxcar), Bit.ly API, Video Upload, and multiple picture upload. However, it is brand new. You need to give some time for the Developers to work out the kinks and add the other features. It is somewhat stable. However, it DOES crash at times, even on my iPhone 3GS. I have spoken to the developer, and apparently it is a loss of memory causing it to crash. I have no idea why this happens on a 3GS (which has double the memory). All we can do is sit back and hope they fix it in an update. Also, the developer of the application has informed me that Boxcar has agreed to include Fluttr in its next update. All in all, Fluttr packs the main and most important features, but not quite all of them (yet).
It does have a generous variety of features, such as picture uploading, twitlonger support, link shortening, and many more. One feature in particular stuck out to me is the little loading bar below your tweet that slowly fills up as you type. It shows you how many characters you have left (Since a tweet is limited to only 140 characters)

One of the things that I felt was really missing was any sort of sign of a new mention or timeline update. When you go back to the home screen of the application, it does not show any type of alert if you have a new mention, direct message, etc. I talked to the developer about this as well, and he plans to add it in the next update or so, which is splendid.
What you need to keep in mind before you buy Fluttr for Twitter is the age of the Developers of the application. Fluttr was created by 3 twitter addicts. The (main) coder of the application is 13-year-old Tan E-Liang. The manager is 16-year-old John Costa, and the PR/Customer Service Representative is 13 year old Branden Flasch. You have to understand that they are a very young and talented group, and that Fluttr is very impressive (considering their age).
However, is this information enough for you to fork over $3.99 for this application when you can get Tweetie 2 for a full dollar less? Our Verdict: Not yet. Tweetie has all of its bugs worked out, by very accomplished developers. In fact, it has even won several awards. Fluttr, however, has not had the time to work out the bugs. In fact, they launched just less than a week ago. So we can definitely expect to see some great improvements as it goes through various updates.
All-in-all, Fluttr for twitter is an unique, feature-packed, gorgeous Twitter Client. However, it needs more time for the developers to smoothen it out and add the extra features that it does not yet have. Remember, it is only version 1.0, and the developer seems to have some great roadmaps for it. I definitely like the way Fluttr is going. For now though, version 1.0 does not seem to be worth $3.99. Maybe the later down the road, it will be acceptable at $3.99. However, for now, it doesn’t cut it, especially if compared to Tweetie 2 at $2.99.
Our Final Rating? 3.5/5
