Name My Tune! for iPhone Will Keep you Nice and Occupied
By: Hillel Fuld
With the 100,000 apps in the App Store, there is pretty much an app for anything, in fact, some even have two of the same exact app. That seems to be the case with Name My Tune and Name My Tunes (can’t make this stuff up). I did not try out the competition, but Name My Tune is a fun and simple app. If you cannot figure it out from the name, the app plays you a song from your library, gives you the option to guess the song, and grades you according to your success.

Like I said, pretty simple concept. There are three levels in the game. In the first one, the app starts playing a song from your music and as soon as you can name it, you ring a bell on the screen or shake the device activating the motion sensor. At this point, the app opens your library and you can find the song using the regular music interface, by artist, song, genre, etc. The second level, you are presented with hints that float around the screen and the app plays a second or two of the song. The last round allows you to customize the amount of time the app plays the song, and awards you points accordingly, the less time, the more points. The wheel you use to set the time is kinda cool, and the app’s interface in general is simplistic and fun, just the way I like it.

That is pretty much it. You can choose to upload your scores to a global scoreboard or just play again. The app also has a profile option, which was not working when I tried, so I could not tell you what that does. Also, I did not find a way to start the app over again if I am having a bad game, pretty basic. All in all, a pretty fun and harmless app, nothing I would put on my first home screen, but somewhere between my 3rd and 4th would work.
